The issue is that the study is not the only thing that matters. It is the emergence of life's living water through the knowing of music. Revelation in every non-thought next note.

Every learned technique is a joy because it preps the stage for greater flights of arrival.

The desire is to behold behear every music tradition on earth as a master gardener watches his flowers in full bloom. But there is no totality of the music of the world that is encounterable. A compendium of descriptions of every tradition, instrument, performance, genre, master, technique is still only a compendium of descriptions. A collection of dead bones. A graveyard of the past.

The musician needs only his lute or flute, his oud or ney, and a joy or longing in his heart.
