At the threshold of imagination and form

lies a path to your true voiceโ€ฆ

I am a composer, artist, and researcher whose work explores the nature of language, religious and philosophical inquiry, and global cultural exchange. My musical voice is shaped by a personal, embodied harmonic and rhythmic language that emerges through my guitar practice, which I orient conceptually through academic study in philosophy and theology, and expand into works for chamber ensemble, orchestra or large ensemble, and solo instruments.

Some recent works include SEAWATER, a trilogy of large ensemble pieces on yearning and the symbolism of water; Crickets, a short string quartet exploring insect rhythms and timbres as part of a larger allegorical musical suite called Bog Frog Fantasia; and an upcoming cycle called Awฤlim al-Mithฤl (Worlds of Imagination) / ุนูˆุงู„ู… ุงู„ู…ุซุงู„, imagination, orientation, language, and the cultural geography of the Persian, Arabic, and Turkic civilizationsโ€”using Ibn สฟArabฤซ, Rลซmฤซ, Yลซnus Emre, and Henry Corbin as a throughline of Sufic and Neoplatonic thought and practice.

Alongside these endeavors, I write poetry, work on music-themed art projects perform, teach and consult, and fundraise/project manage for artists and mission-driven institutions as part of the same search for voice and orientation.
